Inside Out Visual Arts

“When I see my friend here I feel ten times better on the way out than I did coming in. I enjoy being be able to express myself. I love learning and also gaining confidence to believe in myself. Gives me the confidence to get about and do things.”

Our Work

At Inside Out Cymru, we are proud to offer long-term arts workshops in the community. We want to support people’s long-term recovery from mental illness, and this is something that takes time. Because of this approach our workshops become an important part of people’s support networks and long term friendships are developed. This in turn helps to reduce people’s experience of social isolation.

As well as this work, Inside Out Cymru also runs arts workshops for adults with learning disabilities, some hospital-based workshops in mental health wards, as well as a range of training courses for artists and mental health professionals.

Our Funding

Inside Out Cymru is part of the Gwent Mental Health Consortium and funded directly by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board (ABUHB). Working in collaboration with partners Mind, Hafal, Growing Space and CMIG, Inside Out Cymru recruits and supports artists to deliver projects and arts activities promoting good mental health and wellbeing in the community across Gwent.

We are grateful to all of the funders who help to make this work possible, including: ABUHB,  Awards for All, Trusthouse, The Oakdale Trust, Santander, Caerphilly Borough Council, Torfaen Borough Council and Newbridge Co-operative.
