Art Tutorial Subscriptions by IOC

From January to March 2022, Inside Out Cymru ran an online Art Tutorial Subscription! 

Funded by the Lottery Coronravirus Fund and GAVO, the project supported people who didn’t feel safe to leave their home during the pandemic by providing access to therapeutic and mindful tasks that could support their wellbeing, as well as access toa  community of like-minded people.

Artist Nathan Sheen wrote and filmed a series of original beginner art tutorials. These were made available to the public via a subscription. Subscribers receieved a weekly art tutorial, ranging from portrait drawing, painting like Hockney and building a coil pot. Alongside this, they recieved a list of reccommended materials, further inspiration and reading and access to an online community where participants shared their work and progress. 

There were nearly 150 engagements and feedback was good – one subscriber said that they were ‘glad to pick up a pencil again’ and that they felt ‘reinvigorated’.
