From decoupage, to prop-making, to wire-sculpture, our long-standing friendly craft group continue to be supported by their community. The group meet once a week to check in with each other and learn something new, which, over time, has led to massive increased in confidence, reduction in loneliness and to so many brilliant works of art being created.
Funded for the 3rd time by Newport Council’s Participatory Budgeting, this year called ‘Raising Hope’, this project will engage Lisa, an experienced professional jewellery-maker and artist to provide supported crafting sessions for anyone looking for some help with their wellbeing. The sessions allow participants to learn new skills in a non-judgemental and unpressured environment which they can then take away and work on in their own time – or as we’ve seen, together in their own peer-led craft groups.
